A Passport Stamp Gives Dreamers Hope as Trump Era Looms, New York Times

I have been able to take two classes of CUNY students to study abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico. While learning beyond the classroom walls is always a powerful experience, this article shows the impact of the class on students who were recipients of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).

As Mexican Families Leave U.S. for Home, Film Focuses on the Children, New York Times

This article delves into the film I produced and co-directed, Una Vida, Dos Países [One Life, Two Countries]: Children and Youth (Back) in Mexico. It addressed why the film was created and follows up with a father from one of the featured families who lives in NYC while being separated from his children in Mexico.

Bengali Students Need Teachers Who Speak Their Language, NPR/WNYC

Bengali is in the top five languages spoken by students identified as multilingual learners in New York City. In spite of the large number of Bengali students in schools, there are few bilingual programs for them. In this report I address the possible reasons for the shortages of programs as well as bilingual teachers.
